Arts offer spectacular victories. It seems taking them personally is what produces the antagonist in Apocalypse Now.

I think the victory belongs to the human spirit under constraint. Then it’s about choosing a new constraint and a new target.

So there is a selflessness aspect but not any kind of self-indulgent version.
